UPDATE -- March 19, 2020: At 11:24 AM Eastern Time, the Obmbudsman's Office canceled the Webinar. An update will be sent to stakeholders upon rescheduling. The USCIS Ombudsman’s Office has announced that it will hold a public webinar to discuss the process of immigrant visa allocation with Department of State and USCIS representatives on March 19, 2020. The Webinar is scheduled to last from 1 to 2pm Eastern Daylight Time.

While the Visa Bulletin publication process is in and of itself fascinating, this particular webinar is likely to prove to be interesting given rapid Priority Date movements in the past year. For example, the EB-5 India priority date has surprisingly advanced in recent months, and may possibly become ‘Current’ before the end of the fiscal year. Likewise, EB-5 China recently saw a major acceleration. With slowed USCIS adjudications and perhaps even the Coronavirus outbreak depressing immigrant visa demand, many questions now arise relating to this year’s visa usage and future priority date advancements.

The Ombudsman’s Office invites attendees to submit written questions throughout the webinar and states that it will select questions to be addressed by the speakers. Members of the public may RSVP by sending an email to cisombudsman.publicaffairs@hq.dhs.gov.
